National Park Brijuni Excursions

Bottlenose dolphins (genus Tursiops) are the most familiar and playful members of the dolphin family (Delphinidae). Scientists recognize three species within this genus: the common bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), the Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops aduncus), and the rare Burrunan dolphin (Tursiops australis).

These remarkable dolphins can be found in warm and temperate seas all over the world, except in the Arctic and Antarctic regions. Their name comes from the Latin tursio (dolphin) and truncatus, referring to their characteristic truncated teeth.

Watching these intelligent and social animals in their natural habitat is an unforgettable experience, especially during our excursions in the waters of Brijuni National Park.
